About Canada Immigration Program – Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program

Canada Federal Skilled Workers Program is a program that was designed to attract professionals and skilled workers to Canada. Canada Immigration Program – Federal Skilled Worker was first introduced in 1967 and has been modified throughout the years to accommodate the country’s shortage in workforce. It is currently heavily directed towards giving preference to the admission of highly skilled immediately employable immigrants, who satisfy the requirements of good health and character.

Canada Immigration Program – Federal Skilled Worker uses its own pointing system, which is used to determine the eligibility of applicants: each applicant is awarded points for age, education, experience, ability to speak English or French, and other factors such as having first degree relatives residing in Canada, adaptability factors, and the ability to obtain a job offer from a Canadian employer.

The highest scoring candidates are selected periodically according to an annual quota previously announced by the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and granted admission, and the right to migrate to Canada and land there with their spouse and dependent children.
